Should anyone come across the comments mentioning StrawberryOS and is interested in that, it is actually PeppermintOS. Got flavors mixed up :)

Glad to hear in the comments that this isn't a reason to not use Linux. I keep telling myself that my next operating system will be Linux. I've been askeered to try it until now.

Its more the one I prefer than all of them. Many stable ones out there, but I gotta make life difficult for no reason🤣

Mint, PopOS and Zorin are a bit more user friendly for beginners.

Do you want a GLARING BACK DOOR built into your OS (like Windows and OSx)? Or do you want sovereignty?

UBUNTU appears to be compromised... As do many of the Red Hat variants...

I use Manjaro and have found it BRILLIANT! Easy to use and SECURE! (just install, enable your UFW and off you go!)

LINUX KICKS A$$ over the FOUL alternatives!

Why then good sir, do you cuss at Linux??

Headlines like your might put others off going the GOOD PATH... What distro do you use?? Maybe you should be cursing that! :)

Well, you use it. You cant think of any reason one might get frustrated with it, particularly after this happening twice in 2025? 🤣

Getting up and running with linux should be accompanied by a literal, actual course in unix / linux 101, with tests, that you study for. I'm not kidding. The investment pays off.

With that under your belt, a chatbot ( a good one like Qwen 232b) will be a good aide, now that the search engines, forums and IRC chats have been destroyed The Enemy™.

Ive been on linux for prob 10 yrs. What I meant was whatever broke during the update magically didnt happen with a fresh install. Shocker, I know. As for chatbots, will never use one. I have no interest in them whatsoever.

If Im not mistaken, we discussed this prior. If so, that Mint Linux in the links I gave ya wont be problematic like the one I use. And many other that are quite stable as well. Basically this is a problem of my oen making😞

I tend to favor Linux distros that don't update so frequently. Gives apps a chance to catch up. As far as mainline distros that are kept up, Debian is probably the slowest. I run Mint as a good compromise and because the Cinnamon interface is reputed to be closest to the Windows interface, which I am already used to. I have been intrigued by some of the lesser used distros as I run older machines. Playing with Peppermint Linux right now.

I like debian but it always gives me issues with wifi staying connected. Im currently using MXLinux and its just my favorite so I deal with it.

Not a fan of Debian either - just responding to the update irritation.

If it wasnt for that pesky wifi problem (which is prob more a me issue than a debian issue) it would be pretty ideal. Been contemplating jumping to something arch-based (archcraft is nice imo), but been awhile so gotta refamiliarize myself before I use it on my main pc.

Arch is difficult and updates constantly. Good luck.

I didnt mean THE arch. Archcraft has prebuilt images so removes that headache and Ive tinkered with it before. Its simple and without a lot of bells and whistles. But I think I got MX back up and running where I want it mostly so sticking it out for now😬🤘

I’m thinking about Debian at the moment. Mint is easy to use but annoying with all the updates

Either that or you could look at Strawberry Linux which updates maybe once a year.

Well, if Mint updates annoy you then Debian is the way to go.

No Linux is fine, just depending on the distro, tends to get broken by updates occasionally. Its more the distro I use than linux overall. I was just being over-dramatic for the sake of it😉
